On September 12 a programme of three performances, ‘Burner’, took place in the parking lot near Pušyno Kel. 23.

The Lithuanian word ‘Svilimas’, referring here to a burning sensation and heat, points to friction – felt in the polyphonic dialogues of public spaces, amid the currents of internet and street traffic, and between spontaneous expression and controlled order. Without reaching complete combustion, it leaves a trace: altered surfaces, a smell, and a memory of what has taken place.

Meanwhile, the English title ‘Burner’ evokes what is temporary, anonymous, replaceable, and active. In different word combinations, ‘burner’ takes on meanings associated with an escape plan, a one-off call, or leaving no trace, while also opening up questions about identity and belonging.

In Joelis Aškinis’ performance ‘This is a developing story’, tenderness gives way to brutality, reflecting institutional structures and forms of community gathering. Affected by shifts in the social temperature, the body moves between anger and empathy, aggression and care.

Julius Jančauskas’ performance ‘I Am Sorry for the Way I Exhale Makes You Uncomfortable’ explores borrowed time and the ways we measure it. Exhaling smoke, the character burns words, owing nothing to the listener. Catching the remnants of sentences as if they were air, she forms a connection that quickly dissolves into echoes of pop culture and sweet retro melodies.

lele111, also known as Karolis Deveikis, turns the teasing he learned in childhood into a language of love. In the performance, extreme states of consciousness, algorithmic language, and a sense of impending catastrophe overlap with naïve, impulsive behaviour, creating an illusion of escape.
